About Us
Young Sang Bakery is a 80+year strong (incorporated in 1979), third-generation authentic Jamaican family-owned business, nestled in the heart of Morant Bay in the parish of St. Thomas and just a stones throw away from the beautiful eastern coastline of Jamaica.
We firmly believe that “one hand wash the other,” and as we continue to grow, we now boast a team of seventeen strong, who all hail from the neighbouring communities that have supported us throughout the years. We support various community activities and believe in “Giving Back” to our community.
We are committed to staying true to our roots even as we expand our business, and our homemade quality buns and breads remain our specialty. Grandma’s Recipes…
Gingerbread Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 ½ cups flour
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ¼ tsp. salt
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup Molasses
- 1 cup boiling water
Everything by Hand
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 F and grease a 9” x 12” pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix in your butter with sugar.
- Beat in the eggs then molasses.
- Add your water.
- Sprinkle in your flour, spices, baking soda and salt and beat until smooth.
- Pour into prepared pan and bake until your tester comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached, about 45 minutes to an hour.
